The last seven days we listened, sprinted, created and strummed our way to the end of the amazing week!
We started the week off with a fascinating talk on the Jewish religion by a parent named Mr. Weinburger.
On Tuesday, the whole of Year 6 inteviewed Mr Barber to gather information in order to practise our biography-writing skills. Mr Barber gave a thorough talk on his career and life, whilst we scribbled down notes and asked questions for an hour and a half! We were very amused and surprised, especially hearing about his approach to learning times tables in Year 3.
The day after, a group of Yr 6 and 5's went to St Bedes to participate in a tiring athletics tournament. With enormous amounts skill, we won coming first with 278 points !! Many members of our class participated and we were especially proud of Dylan who won the javelin throwing contest.
Wednesday was not just all about sport. Harry and Ollie helped some Year 4s with their homework, showing what great role models we are. We also pretended to present to Bristol City Council on proposed energy saving measures with ideas gathered from trials held at Totnes. We were interested to find out that they have a Totnes pound, just like we have a Bristol pound here.
On Thursday we were thoroughly entertained by the guitar assembly (which Christian took part in), then enjoyed French and PE in the afternoon.
Friday saw us finishing off our biographies, Charlie and Glori went to school council and we prepared the room for the Christmas Bazaar tomorrow. Phew!
Anushay was a great Star of the Week and we all enjoyed her thunk, 'What 6 things would we turn to gold and why.' Luke will be star next week. His thunk is 'If you could go into space, what would you most like to do or see?'
Oh yes...the Christmas tree is up, the postbox is ready and the cakes have been decorated. It's nearly time for Christmas!

Friday 16th November
Last Friday our school experienced the most spectacular firework display yet with massive rockets and loud whistlers to beautiful catherine wheels and sparkling shower!
If you had read the last post you would have read that we had started a great art project inspired by Andy Goldsworthy, the faboulas natural artist. As we continued this project, we started collecting items for our artwork such as leaves, stones and twigs. Then we quickly took photos of our colourful creations before they were blown away by the wind.

Also this week, thanks to HENSA we had the most amazing assembly from a animal expert named Steve (not Steve Backshall). He brought in some fascinating wildlife such as: a slithering snake, a jumping genet, an amazing African grey parrot, a memorable meerkat, a prickly porcupine and a stinky skunk ( luckily it didn't blow). It was a great assembly and it was the best present ever. We give a gigantic thank you to Steve.
As this fantastic week continued, a group of year 6 boys particapated in a basketball tournament and, with lots of confidence, won it. If that's not enough sport a team of girls played in a football competition and brilliantly came 2nd. Christina is out this afternoon, representing the school in a netball tournament.
Also, Anja was a brilliant star of the week and we have a mind boggiling thunk : If you could eat 3 foods for the rest of the year which would they be and why?
So that rounded up our exciting week but with lots more awesome activitys for the next week!

Week beginning 5th November
Tuesday 12th November 2012
Last week we did some magnificient work on WWII, Andy Goldsworthy. Also some pupils demonstrated their skills at speaking and listening by showing the problems of the environment in their topic talks. On Tuesday, we started work on Andy Goldsworth, a great artist who uses natural materials to make abstract works of art.
Two days after, we went on an enjoyable trip to U.W.E (University of West England) to learn all about World World War Two.The highlights included making gasmasks, eating vegatable PIE(!!) and marching with rifles (don't worry we, didn't hurt anyone because they were wooden). We had a brilliant time at U.W.E and give thanks to the wonderful helpers that taught us lots of interesting infomation on World War Two.
So overall it was a fantastic week and we are looking forward to another fun week.
By Nabil and Christian!
Last week of our first term in Year 6
During the last week of our first term we had a information packed first aid talk on how to do CPR, slings, and what to do when a person has a heart/angina attack. On Thursday the same group of boys, that went last week to the first tournament now went again to participate in the final of the Orchard School competition and with great effort won it, keeping the trophy for the first time. At the start of the week we had a great supply teacher, Miss Cosgrove, that taught us many great things but we missed our original teacher, Miss Mumford because unfortunately, she was at Dean Field. Also Charlie and Gloriana went to the first school council meeting and Luke is starting an I.T. Project with Mr Barber.
