Welcome Back Class 2

We have been here for nearly 2 weeks and have achieved so much! We have elected team captains and deputies, school councillors, written poetry, completed a marathon spelling test, not to mention settling in to our new maths groups. Phew!

Next week, we have our RE trip on Thursday. Please remember your packed lunches as we will not be back in time for school dinners. Check the weather forecast, too, as we will be walking whatever the weather. You may need an umbrella as well as a coat.

It has been lovely to get to know you all and we have all getting to know Theo, who has settled in so well.

Thank you to all parents who have offered to help. I am working on a timetable at the moment so please bear with me and I will be in contact soon.

Happy Weekend!

Animation Antics

Today we embarked on our animation project. We took part in a workshop run by Wendy Griffiths from  Aardman Animations and Roger Young from software providers Kudlian.

First of all, we watched some clips of the making of 'The Pirates'. Then we handled Wallace and Gromit models and watched some clips from Shaun the  Sheep.
We were shown some of the 'tricks of the trade' and finally we were let loose with a camera, backdrop, a MacBook and a number of Lego/Playmobil models.
We noticed that guns and weapons were VERY popular in some groups! We spent around an hour creating our very first animations and realised just what a challenge we will face making a 60 second film next week. We're all so excited!
What with this, the cake sale and wearing our 'normal clothes', this has been an amazing end to a very unusual week!

Friday 26th April

This week (as you may have already geussed) we had 5 days to endure challenging lessons of English, History, Maths and Stretch and we have just recieved our homework. YAY!

On Thursday, a few boys from Henleaze in year six and five played a football  match against Hotwells. It was one of the semi finals and we were playing at home, giving us the advantage. We nailed them in the first half giving a 3-0 lead, all three from Kerian. Boh teams were unsteady in the second half with each team conceding one goal. Consequently the final score stood at 4-1. The final was waiting for us.

Throughout the week, groups of 3-6 pupils in class 2 have been creating mini clips about evacuation World War 2. Mrs Mumford told us to include elements of humour but a few facts to tell her that we have learned something. Today we finished, edited and watched our own clips (that were very  funny). We will be viewing each others next week and we may even put a few on the blog for you to see.

Fortunately, the weather was merciful on us and we have gone on the field almost every day. We hope it's the same where you are. From us two, its goodbye

Friday 19th April

After an exhausting week of tests, tests and more tests, we've just finished mock SATs and recieved our results of a reading comprehension, three maths papers and a levelled write. We all achieved our targets and some got higher than expected so well done to them!

Throughout this week we have been studying the art of war artist Henry Moore. We saw how he used lines to create his masterpieces and used an effective white on black style. The class have started to decide what they will be using to re-create a sample of his work if it is a graphite pencil, some white chalk or charcoal. Everyone has practised his style and got used to it.

A group of children from class 2 have been to Claremont to particapate in an art project with some children from the Infants and Claremonts. Also, recently we have just started our new stretch with a selection of art, DT or music. It is were we select a subject of a few options and then do it once a week. We try to complete a task or challenge that Mrs Mumford sets us.

That is all for now...
